Completely hand-forged flatware is made with 304 stainless steel handles. The color of the handles is a result of a heat patina from the forging. The artists use Argentium sterling (tarnish-resistant sterling silver) for spoons and forks. The knife blade is polished stainless. The artists recommend hand washing. If placed in the dishwasher, the silver will lose its polish and turn a dull gray.
